Mmkay, I just did a fresh install of xubuntu a few days ago, and now that I've got everything exactly the way I want it... MPD (using ncmpc if that changes anything) won't detect any mp3s in the database. It detects a playlist file or a subfolder just fine, but mp3s won't show up. Any idea why??

Do you have the mp3 codecs installed? These aren't included by default. You can install the xubuntu-restricted-extras package to install mp3 codecs, java and flash.

Ah, thanks. Downloading the packages now (synaptic's connection to the server has been slow lately). I'll check how it goes after I get home from school.

Thanks again ^^

Gah, doesn't seem to work. I can't figure out WHAT the hell is going on.

EDIT: Fixed it. I had to make sure all of the music files were writable to other users. What an ordeal o.o
