View Full Version : [ubuntu] Connecting to a Workgrouped Win2000 machine

Hello All!

I am a new user to Ubuntu 7.10. I just got it all installed and set up. I am having some issues finding my Win2000 computer on the network. I can search for the network, and find my workgroup named "workgroup", but when I double click on the "workgroup" icon to view the computers connected to it, nothing comes up. It just searches for a while, then stops with nothing to show. Is there any other way to find it, or connect to it?

I am using a wired connection to a wired/wireless netgear router. 3 computers are wired, my lappy is wireless, and my Wii is wireless. Thats all I have connected.

Can anyone please help? I have a shared drive on that Win2000 machine that I would love to access.

I sometimes have better luck with the Connect to Server option.

I finally got it all working just fine. I used the connect to server option and typed in the IP of the server and there it was!

So thanks for the help-

Dunno why that should make a difference - but it seems to.
