Hi Guys,
I am completely new to Ubuntu and Linux. I decided that I would like to try it out a few weeks ago, but decided to wait until the new release before doing so.

I have downloaded the file and sucessfully burnt it to CD.

However when I boot from the CD, whether I try it as a Live CD or select install, I don't get the desktop appearing. Instead it goes to a text based screen saying

BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu12) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter help for a list of built-in commands.

(initramfs)

The version of Ubuntu that I downloaded is ubuntu-8.04-desktop-amd64.iso, which I think is correct as I have an AMD Athlon 3700+ 64 processor

Any help/advice that you may have would be very gratefully received!

I believe you will need the alternate cd.
