View Full Version : [ubuntu] Tor and Vidalia: problem with Tor Network Map

Hi,

I've installed Tor and Vidalia following http://onlyubuntu.blogspot.com/2008/03/howto-setup-vidalia-tor-gui-with-ubuntu.html , although i'm using the version of Tor in the Ubuntu repository rather than from the source file.

Now everything works fine, I'm using it on Firefox with the extension TorButton. The only thing is that the Tor Network Map in Vidalia does not show the countries for the exit nodes, which is something I would need. Has anyone else got this problem? I have no idea why the countries don't show up...

Thanks! :-)

There is a problem with the geoip.vidalia-project.org server used for the mapping of nodes. Hopefully this server will return to working order in the next week or so.

Hi,
Almost three years latter since your last post, I have the same problem with the Vidalia network map: It doesn't show neither the nodes on the world map nor the country flags in the list of nodes.
Any ideas about what is the problem?
This feature would be really convinient in this program.
Thanks!

Hi all,

Did you install Vidalia from the standard repositories? Try uninstalling, then following this:

https://www.torproject.org/docs/debian-vidalia.html.en

Should give you an up-to-date version with a working network map.
