My current dvd player only burns in xp,,Its pretty old, so I was thinking of replacing it. Newegg has a good deal on these:

will ubuntu support this?

I use a HP external dvd burner connected via usb and have not experienced any issues. As for the lite-on brand I can not say if it will work or not but since the HP works I don't see why lite-on shouldn't work either.

I got mine to work last night simple by removing the power cord and plugging it back in.... weird but it works fine now... no other issues.
