I downloaded the RC about a week ago (8.04) and have had it installed under wubi. Well, yesterday I was messing around with disk mounting when I was trying to mount an iso of a game cd. Well I may have done bad things:confused: I started it this morning and got the following startup message in recovery mode:

mount: Mouning /root on /host failed: invalid argument
ALERT! /host/ubuntu/disks/root.disk does not exist. Dropping to a shell!

I got a prompt for "initramfs" after this and didnt know where to go from there for recovery. Is there anything I can do to repair this, or do I have to cut my losses and re-install? I would rather not given that I have configured and fine tuned everything the way I would like it.

Thanks for any help in advance! Eager to escape from vista asap!

Did you try to boot into recovery mode?

yes. In normal boot it just went to "initramfs" prompt with no other information. In recovery mode it gave me the error above before going to that prompt.

Try this link in the Wubi forum, it looks very similar to your issue http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=761118

I hope this helps
