I COULD NOT FIND THE APPROPRIATE SECTION FOR THIS...SORRY.
so, through a series of events ive been locked out of my own administrative account on my vista desktop. i do however, have access to another user on the computer but it doesnt have admin capabilitys.
ive tried "net user" commands in cmd but im getting a "system error 5 - access is denied" message because the account im doing the commands off of isnt a administrator.
is there any other way to retrieve my admin account back?

What do you mean by lost? Do you mean you have forgotten your password?

just go on google and search for a tool which lets you hack into the password SAM files and follow the instructions....... it worked for XP at least!

yea, vista has more security features up then xp does, mostly in the parental and family area etc.

If its winxp, try booting into safe mode and seeing if the Administrator account exists without a password(lots of times people forget to change the admin password account).

Try this one(just googled it, have no experience with this method): http://www.walkernews.net/2007/04/10/hack-windows-vista-logon-account-password/
Or this one: http://macecil.googlepages.com/hackingvista.htm
Use at your own risk, bla bla bla nothings my fault, etc. etc. you know the drill.

Try logging in with username administrator and no password, this works in xp but i'm not sure about vista. If that fails you could download ophcrack and boot it, this will get your passwords, all of them.

You need the ophcrack live cd. Just boot from it and let it do it's thing for about 10 minutes:
