I'm wondering if anyone with a v.3,1 Macbook Pro has encountered any problems upgrading from 7.10 --> 8.04.

I'm wondering if anyone with a v.3,1 Macbook Pro has encountered any problems upgrading from 7.10 --> 8.04.I don't have your hardware, but there are a lot of differences between 7.10 and 8.04 and i would recommend a full install as upgrades don't seem to go well. Just make a backup of stuff and install over the same partition.

I will start that download. But since I have a crytped partition, I'm not sure I can install off the live cd. Does LUKS load with the live cd? otherwise, won't be able to mount my hdd. Guess I'll download it and see.

Interested to see how it goes for you. I'm running on a 1stSantaRosa gen MBP (that's 3rd gen MBP iirc?). I found 7.10 to not fully support energy saving (at all?) aspects and resultingly the lappy would run _HOT_. Here's hoping 8.04 will fair better. :)

Hmmm.... I've been running 7.10 on my MBP 3,1 for the past month with no issues. I mean, the laptop runs hot, but not substantially hotter than it does in OS X. But I do hope 8.04 has better energy consumption for battery life.

I'm still curious if anyone has run the network update without any trouble. I'd rather not do a full reinstall.
