There is a logo available in Inkscape. Go to File>Import From Open Clip Art Library and search for Ubuntu. Get the inktut_makeubuntulogo.svg

A good place for Inkscape tutorials is heathenx (http://screencasters.heathenx.org/) in case you want to customize the logo.
