I have a Radeon X800 PCI-E and I want to have dual-monitor support enabled. My main monitor is an LCD (1280x1024) while my secondary is to the right and is a CRT(1024x768).

I tried installing ATI's fglrx drivers, but that only killed Ubuntu, and the other examples shown in the forums (MergedFB, etc) haven't been working for me either.

I'm about close to giving up on getting dual-head to work at this moment...I would really really like to get it working though.

sudo apt-get install fglrx-control

then you have the ati catalyst control center

then in there it should show both displays

worked for me on dell e1505 / ati x1400
