hi is it possible to upgrade from 32 bit ubuntu to 64bit without loosing all files setting etc . i put 32 bit on as only had 32 bit cd now have 64 bit cd .

You can't upgrade directly, however if you backup /home, you can just copy that back in on top of a clean install to keep your personal settings.

Hi, if you have your /home partition separate from your / partition, this should be no problem though right? Thanks

Correct, you just have to tell the installer to mount that partition as /home.
