I recently installed ubuntu version 5 to my dell. when I try to log on, I can get through the user name & password but then I'm stalled. Could anyone help me with this issue. I don't know whether it is a desktop or server edition.

Version 5? From 2005? You might want to download the newer version from here: http://releases.ubuntu.com/gutsy/

Could you give us a couple more details? Like which version did you install and would a newer version work for you? What mode Dell do you have? Maybe even include some basic specs for us to save time. Did you download the image and burn it or did you get the install CD from other source?
