actually i'm a newbie to linux environment..i've installed latest ubuntu 7.10..and i could'nt enable visual effects in my desktop..inspite of having 128mb of in-built grapics card..when enabling the extra effects i get a pop up message "desktop effects could not be enabled"...please guide me through..

What do you have for a video card? And what drivers do you have installed for it?

Post the output of:

lspci | grep VGA

I would suggest that you use Hardy Heron though (more features, better driver support etc). It will be released in two days, and is basically finished..
