Hello everyone. I am a newbie to Xubuntu and I want to get skype working with video chats.

So, I googled and found instructions how to install 32 bit skype on a 64 bit linux (with a little help of getlibs). That works fine for normal VoIP chats, but not for video chats.

And now it gets strange. As well as in XawTV as in the skype options panel, the webcam is found and working. Only in the actual chats there is no option to video chat. Not even a symbol for it. As if you were back to 1.xx of the linux version.

Any ideas?

If you both have "Start my video automatically when I am in a call" selected in your options then it should start when you call each other.

Yes, I have that option switched on. However, Skype acts like knowing nothing about video chats.

Hmm, now it works fine. Don't know why, but it does.
