Hi I have a lot of questions pertaining to 64 processors I was going to upgrade to possibly a ADM 64 or a Intell 32 till I saw a dual AMD core 64. Now im going to wait for a bit and see how much prices drop as an upgrade is not mission critical.

I have a lot a questions about 64's and am shure a lot of other people are interested in what the future of compting is. Its only a matter of time till 64 processing becomes standared and AMD has embraced 64 processing already, as for intell knowing them they will stick it out and suck everything they possibly can out of what they have set up now. Its just a metter of time and everything will be 64.

I also noticed that Microsoft whent from having a download the 64 version of XP to download the XP 64 trial. Anyone have any info on this? Lastly I would like some answers pertaining to using exsisting sorware and how quickly is 64 support developing? And how good is the Ubuntu ADM 64 version ?

intels dual cores are cheaper than amd's, but amds are faster. overall, intel is the better value in this case.

xp64 used to be in beta when it was free, now you have to pay for it.

64 bit support is pretty good at the moment, Only thing I need but cant get on Ubunut 64 is flash, blame macromedia not linux on that one. If you dont like the 64bit support of ubuntu you can install the 32 bit version on a 64bit processor and be fine. Intel recently came out with 64bt but its more than AMD I believe, I have AMD 64 3000+ and havent read up on Intel as much

I've got the XP 64 bit edition trial...and I had to jump through hoops to get everything working. Driver support is...ok..for larger brands. Most programs work, others don't. My virus scanner of choice, AVG wouldn't work, and I had to search for a free 64 bit virus scanner. I eventually found one, but had never heard of it. I'm sure the support will get much better when vista comes out. As for linux 64 bit support, that's an area I know nothing about. I haven't even tried the 64 bit version of ubuntu yet. I honestly don't see how much benefit I'm going to get from 64 bit computing...at the moment, it's more hastle than its worth in my opinion.
