Processor upgrade to X2

I currently running Ubuntu Server 6.10 (AMD64) on a 4400XP cpu. I have my hands on a 4800X2 chip. I was wondering what I have to do with the software to upgrade the cpu. Will the OS recognize the additional CPU? If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it! :popcorn:

HI and you should have to make no adjustments. I have two system and swapped the cpu's and no issue at all.

Just go for it! Ubuntu will have no problem with the new CPU.
