Our home network consists of two windows XP Pro machines and one Ubuntu machine setup as a LAMP server on a wired network, with one windows XP Pro laptop on a wireless connection.

We want to use Driveimage XML to create and restore images of the Windows XP partitions, saving them onto the Ubuntu machine, which would become a backup server and file server for the Windows XP machines.

We just need some way to save and recall the Windows images and misc. files to/from a repository on the LAMP server.

Any help in pointing us in the right direction to solve this problem will be VERY much appreciated.

as driveimage xml is a windows only app, and you need a plugin in a bart's pe boot disk to restore an image, you may be better off just saving your images to a usb drive. there's a tutorial here about driveimage xml:

if you prefer the network image option, you may be better with another rescue option, such as the one mentioned by ballerh3,

best of luck
