There is an old 98 I believe first edition sitting around and I was wondering if it would be possible to use thumb drives on it. Several other people would use the computer if it was able to have thumb drive support and different thumb drives would be used. Therefore, a driver for each device from various manufacturers wouldn't be practical. I have found these drivers http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/kb/usbmsd98.php and was wondering if they were trust able or malware. If they are malware, is there any generic usb drivers I could use?

you would have to check the download with a av scanner to check for malware, though the site looks genuine.
if you have the make of one of your thumb drives, go to the manufacturers support site and you will likely find a link for w98 drivers for usb. if you download only the actual drivers, and nothing else, i would think they will do for most other usb devices,
best of luck
