Can someone help please? A fellow ubuntu user has recommended I use this forum as everyone is so helpful. I put together an image for a company logo using PHOTOIMPACT. When finished sent it to recycle bin. I have been trying to get rid of it for weeks now. It is only 376kb in size but progress bar shows 'forever' but file does not actually delete. OS Vista Home Basic. I moved it to the desktop and tried deleting it there, with the same results.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum!

Did you enabled the Administrator account?
If not, enable it and login as Administrator and try to delete the file.
Enable Built-in Administrator Account (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-windows-vista/)

Or download the Ubuntu live cd (http://www.ubuntu.com/) and delete the file from Ubuntu:)

If anything else works, try the following:

Copy the file to any folder and then create a file with exactly the same name and extension in another folder, then move it to the folder of the file you wanna erase. Confirm when the system asks you to overwrite the file and then delete the file, that now is the new one.

I have to do this a lot on my WinXP with many avi files. That's strange!!!
