Using the wii Twilight Hack the people from GC-Linux were able to make a proof of concept distro run natively on wii. New support for loading off of front end sd cards and usb keyboard support. get the .elf file

It does run on the wii.
the GC-Linux team decided to use the same sourceforge project page.

Hardware-wise, the Wii is very similar to the Gamecube. So yes, the GC-Linux people have started porting it to the Wii.
