Hi there.
I have been developing small web applications for about 5 months with ASP/Perl, and now I was given the task to create a whole website.
One of the things about this website is that it must have a forum and this is something I do not know how to do, yet.
I would really appreciate if you could give me any hints or links for good tutorials on the web.
Even if right now I am only used to Perl, VBscript and Javascript, I am open to any other language Python, RoR, and even PHP.
(I would prefer not to do it in PHP since I have read a lot of bad things about it.)
Anyway I hope you can help me to take off in this project.
Thanks.

Don't create your own forum..just install a forum software..creating one will take a long time and it would totally useless considering the forum softwares that are around..
And PHP is waaay better than ASP

I suggest using PunBB..cause it's probably the best Forum Software out there(OpenSource)..you can use VBUlletin which is probably the best..but it's commercial..

ASP is for Microsoft. Perl and PHP are cross platform (Ruby, Python, etc are also).
Most people on this forum use Linux, expect a Linux tilt.

Yes I know I use linux myself. But regardless of the plataform I prefer perl. And it is not that I didn't like php cause I have also worked with it and it is extremely easy to use but there is just so much documentation modules and support for perl (besides it is a great language) that I like it the most. And also consider all the faults in PHP.
