I had a power outage. After restarting my video was all hosed up. I'll spare you the details. Briefly, I restored a backed up xconf.org after booting into Windows XP (I have a dual boot), after which I was able to logon and everything is fine and dandy. Well not quite.
First, my AWN manager does not show up. Instead I see a white 1 inch band across the bottom of my screen. My windows also don't have any borders. If I turn of "effects" then everything's fine.
So basically it seems like AWN / Compiz / Emerald settings are messed up just like xconf.org was. Anyone know how I can fix them? I would go through all the installation again, accept that I'm hoping it's not necessary, not to mention I spent quite some time getting things to work nice. I'm not that computer savvy. Also, I didn't want to make things worse. So far I've tried everything with AWN and Emerald settings. For instance, removed "emerald" under "window decoration" in Compiz Settings and put it back, etc, but nothing makes a difference.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Best.
