wine not opening apps

I just reinstalled gutsy and everything went well. Now I installed wine and when I open applications, wine doesn't open them... nothing happens.

here are some workarounds:
Right clicked at the .exe file- entered the correct permisions, open with : wine windows emulator. I also opened wine and I made my programs run for xp only and still nothing happens when I click on any .exe files. Lastly I entered in terminal wineconfig "not sure how they spell it but I got it from here "

can anyone please help?

It might be an AppArmour issue; I think I turned mine off and it solved this problem but I don't remember how.

First, though, open a terminal to where the .exe is and type "wine program.exe" and tell us if it behaves normally.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I too have a problem with Wine (ver. 1.1.3)
Unfortunately I need a true WYSIYWG web creator and Kompozer just doesn't cut the mustard yet.

I am trying to get Webplus to install, pointing wine to setup.exe on the CD ROM.
