The program called bightside. It lets you switch desktops by just moving the mouse to the edge of the screen instead of clicking on the little panel applet. A problem I noticed though...
If you lock the screen, brightside can totally go around it. I guess brightside shouldn't be functioning while the password dialog is up. I'm using gnome-screensaver, I wonder if X-screensaver is the same way.
