View Full Version : "Pro" Video Production Programs other than Cinelerra?

Does anyone have recommendations for a video editing program that is like cinelerra in terms of features and functionality, that is not cinelerra? I'm getting rather fed up with it not working for various reasons. It works fine on my laptop, but on my desktop computer, in 7.04 it wouldn't even install, and now, in 8.04, it randomly stops doing things. For example, at a certain point, I can load files, render, do whatever I want, but none of it will actually happen. I suppose this might be a bug issue as well, but it just seems like sort of an odd issue. Granted I don't have an optimal video editing machine (athlon XP processor, 1GB RAM), but I'm just looking to put things together. I actually tried Kino once, but after it failed to actually make the entire video twice in a row, I've kind of lost faith in that program as well. It just decided not to render the last 10 minutes or so of the video.

So, if anyone has alternative ideas, I would love to hear them. Thanks!

i dunno of any, butr there are two versions of cinelerra. The Hero edition and CV, perhaps if you try installing the other. I believe the differences are minimal.

Blender's video editor has been used for several large-scale projects, including a feature film. It may just be what you are looking for.

It may not quite be 'pro' level, but I found Kdenlive adequate to put together a basic video with extra audio tracks and some transitions. Kino is more basic, but for me it does a better job of just getting the DV onto my drive,
