before, i had gusty 64-bit

last month, i went to hardy beta cuz i had connection problems.

i installed the 32-bit instead of 64.
id like to go to hardy 64 but is reinstalling the only way????

btw, whats the difference between 64 and 32 bit?

I believe reinstalling is the only way... save your data, somehow, and then bite-the-bullet. <smile>

64-bit handles 64 bits at one time, while 32-bit handles 32 bits at a time. Read the Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/64-bit) for more info.

That is correct. If you have a separate home partition that would be better. But in any case back up your data first before installing.

Well.. You cannot upgrade to a 64 bit system. The best way is to backup the files you need and download a 64 bit installer. Go ahead. 64 bit is the way to go :KS

Hmm.... thats quite strange nobody said to him, that the only way to switch 32 to 64 is reinstalling the system. And the important part is to not forget to backup your data!
