Didn't Microsoft help Apple from going out of business in the 90s? If thats trues does anyone know why?

Microsoft sells a lot of software for the mac (mainly MS Office for the Mac), so I suspect this is one reason why they helped Apple. Apparently Microsoft bought about US$150 Million worth of Apple shares in 1997.

They helped Apple so they could help themselves, IMO.

As has already been stated, so they can sell their Mac versions of Office and other software.

(semi sarcasm)
And so they can say "Look! See!! We have a competitor! We're not a monopoly. Honest, they're a real competitor and we're scared of them. Uh huh! Yeah!"
(end semi sarcasm)

I think they did prevent Apple from going out of business though. I'd hate to see what Windows would have looked like without them having MacOS to copy ideas from.

they gave them a loan back in the 90s and part of the agreement was for msoffice for mac....there is a video on youtube when steve jobs anoced it (there were a lot of boos from the crowd it was funny) but i am too lazy to try and go find it
