I hope someone can offer some advice. I purchased a scanner about a year ago, a Canon 8600F specifically for scanning thousands of old slides for my family. I recently made the switch to linux and now I found out the scanner is not supported. Ive installed VirtualBox 1.5.6 (the latest version I think) direct from the VB website. I set up an XP home system on it and it works great sans the USB (although my USB mouse works).
Here is the note I get when clicking on "settings" of my system...
Failed to access the USB subsystem.
Could not load the Host USB Proxy Service (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND). The service might be not installed on the host computer.

Ive browsed and searched the threads here but have yet been able to find any USB threads with the errors like mine. Im not sure what to do next. Any help getting this going would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
