well.. although not all of the objectives for Dapper have been reached, if you want to upgrade I imagine it's quite stable right now.. ;)

I guess so.
When I was a kid the PC seemed more fun. DOS, games, and major improvements.

Going from monochrome to CGA to EGA to VGA to SVGA. Going from a few mhz to 100's, and then to GHz. Neat devices like scanners, color printers, and cd burners.

However, now I see the route of patents and witholding information...

Ubuntu and Gnu/Linux, just for the ideology I love it. Even if I'm just acting as an end-user (and spreading the software too) I'm actually interested. :)

If Linux and open source were to go away... I think I'd lose my interest in the PC. :)
It makes it possible for me to use my PC how I want, including nostalgia (i.e using dosbox to play my DOS games and getting to use terminal again)

Ok I know windows lets you use terminal, but it's a pain in the butt. :)
