I'm definitely going to try it out, it's what i'm looking for at the moment. There is also Ubuntu Studio (http://www.ubuntustudio.com) which is based on a similiar idea.

I will post back when i have had a look. Thank dptxp!

I tried it, but didn't like it. The interface was all outdated and clunky imho.

There's also one that is KDE based. Looks promising. I don't know the name of it.

Musix looks good just because it's so light, which is good for music recording.

yes. i use that only for music. it is in my honest opinion a lot better than ubuntu studio. i tried to make the switch once to have only ubuntu on all my computers but ubuntu studio was a big dissapoinment to me. so i use ubuntu for internet and office. a little programming and debian as my distro for my older computers and 64studio connected to my harddisk recorder for sound production.
i can recommend it . also the live cd if you noticed it.
