External Hard drive

I have an external hard drive (a 1 TB Lacie drive) that works fine (incredibly in fact) on my Ubuntu system.

But it does not work on Apple or Microsoft systems. The weirdest thing is that they drives show up, I just cannot access it.

I was wondering if I have to format it certain way or something.

what system file do u use to format your HD?

i advise u format your hd in NTFS or FAT32 file system.

My 500GB LaCie has a XFS file system by default. Don't know if thats windows compatible.
It might require a windows plugin or formatting to FAT32.
