I have Vista installed on a 25GB partition as part of my hard drive. I am almost out of space and if I plan to put any new Direct3D10 capable games on Vista I will run out (only 3.5GB left roughly). I forget, can I just simply extend that partition? I think I have partitions with data in them after it though. Could I just install the games and/or other software to another partition?

well you should be able to extend the partition yes but make sure you back everything up.
but is that all the room you have on your hard drive?
Vista is a space hog, you should have waited to see if you could put it on a larger hard drive as Vista only allows you to activate it once I believe...
and you will have to give Microsoft more of your money.
that amount of space is too small for something like vista and games, when you account for how much space the games need and how much vista eats up by default then that amount of space will never suit you.
if you have data, get an external hard drive and do yourself a favor.

As long as you have plenty of space after it you should be able to, I use PartedMagic and have had to re-size my Vista partition twice (it is an ever growing monster, even though I have few apps installed and hardly ever use it) and it has worked fine both times. But again, if you have lots of data on other partitions besides the Vista one, back up anything you can't lose, and it could take awhile if you have lots of data to shift around.

I have Vista Ultimate. I can install as many times as I want because it is an OEM copy. For normal copies I do not think the activation things applies. I do believe that that was originally in the EULA but was taken out and/or changed.

The OEM copy can be installed and reinstalled again and again on your machine. They do not need a key/activation since they are generally pre-activated.
