hi, well, here it goes. well. i want to dip into linux developement using LFS and possibly make a Distro for my family. as far as the LiveCD goes, (dont want to bother using a distro that doesnt have right stuff,) i plan to use the ISO in Innotek VirtualBox, then when i finish it, i will make an iso and install it into another vm. any suggestions?:lolflag: 14 is a little too young to actually like start a distro (yknow, like DSL, DeLi, whatever) because of school and stuff. :guitar::lolflag:

I would help, but at 41 I am not yet old enough to do so. :)

Seriously I have not yet enough experience to do so because I was sheep down in the Windows world for too much of my professional life (still am using Windows because it pays the bills)...

I basically wanted to tell you that if you feel you are ready then try -- if you fail it will just eventually lead to success.

When you find success just remember I encouraged you and send me some of your fortune; ok?

depending on where your actual location there may be some better places to get help. Do you have a local LUG, for instance?

i done this before. just take your time read the instructions and ask for help as the problems arise. it took me 6 months to get LFS up and running, then again i was only doing a little bit every night or when i had free time. worth the time to set up. i don't care what the gentoo users say but THAT is the way to learn what's under the hood.

i didn't find it worth maintaining though as i couldn't keep up with all of it. good educational experience though.

Haha, sounds like what i want to do. but ive been too busy dorking around with that dang Inspiron 700 in my corner!!!! its so old, i dont even need it. but i keep on installing different OSes on it. its so stupid too because it doesnt read from burnt cds, so its either flash drive or something else, although edubuntu works with my internet and i have the cd. :D takes forever to install though. well, i might just go solo on this one, little bit here/there, cause i got school to deal with.

oh btw im only 13

:P

how many 13 year olds do you know that can use linux in the terminal?? (i still suck at it)

i have actually used every type of os. i have a PowerbookG4 with OSx Leopard (linux AND mac!) and other w'dows pcs and tops incl. a thinkpad 365 xd my uncle gave to me and it was running redhat (6,7,8,9???) without a gui. i made it kernel panic and rendered it de-funct!!!!. now the most it can run is win98. win 3.1 was even slow.
