Maryan Linux is a E17 Ubuntu based distro, which has codecs pre-installed, but will also have a complete propriety free edition as well. Its aim is to be the most user friendly e17 distro there is without the clutter.

You can download the Beta 1 using a torrent or a Mirror.

i have it installed on my p3, 768mhz cpu, 384mb ram comp, it runs smoothly, only thing i dont like is that gtk is set to default, which doesnt make gtk apps very pretty... but nice job, i've been fallowing maryan linux for the past 4 months, and glad its finally out

@Chris
Thanks for the comment. What do you exactly mean by gtk is the default? The gtk theme is ugly and the gtk themes can't be set up properly, which will be fixed in beta 2.

The GTK themes need to be set by either installing GNOME Appearance Properties, or by installing XFCE settings. Either way, it isn't that pretty on this one, but good job!

I also don't like the default layout of it. I like more of the "windowsesque" layout when it comes to E17. As it is, it is set to the default E17 layout, which isn't very user friendly imo.

@Cardinals
Will be made after the stable release. Its an edition where it doesn't include all the propriety stuff like flash, codecs etc.

@chris4585
You can change the theme by typing gnome-control-center in terminal, but there is a bug where it doesn't save the theme for the next session. The package is there, its just not available on the menu. Will be fixed for beta 2.

@smartboyathome
What is the "windowsesque" layout?

Thanks for the comments

An excellent beta, Molom.

I have started a MaryanLinux page on Distropedia (http://cafelinux.org/distropedia/node/191)- feel free to correct any errors or add info.
