I remember reading a post a while ago where poofyhairguy mentioned a low ram solution running Ubuntu with XFCE and installing Gnome pannel etc. I have a serios question here. Will this work for a P2-350 with 128megs or pc-133 ram. The old box currently has win-98 running on it which is what it shipped with. Also another issue is that it has a sis onboard 2d 3d video driver version 1 or 1.1 and a yamaha onboard sound card. I might just wait till Xubuntu is ready as I still have to find a old big plug keybard and a powercord which should not pose a big problem just have to locate the parts. I might have a old soundblaster that I gave someone who didnt use it in his machine. Only other problem is that it only has a 6gig hard drive (5.99). This old box is sort of inportant to me as it was my first pc after the C-64 days and I gave it to my sister and just got it back so I would like to keep it running even if not fully usefull.

Yes. I run it on less. But get rid of all non essential applets. Only have like four (time, menubar, taskbar, pager) and don't put more on (like delete the trashcan one) because they eat some RAM.

run the programs to do it:

gnome-panel

gnome-volume-manager

nautilus --no-desktop

enjoy. I will make how to for Breezy.
