I recently got into Linux and Ubuntu. I downloaded and intalled mythbuntu 7.10. My problem is that within mythtv I can't get DVD's to play. i can get them to play from APPLICATIONS -> MULTIMEDIA -> XINE MOVIE PLAYER. When I try to play a DVD in Mythtv nothing happens. I'm really frustrated! Thank you in advance.

Why do you want to play a DVD in mythTV?
Whats wrong with Mplayer/VLC/XINE/Totem/?

I wanted to use this computer as kind of a media PC. I liked the idea using mythtv as a cental location. As I mentioned in my post I installed mythbuntu.

ok. I wasn't aware MythTV did DVD's. I normally use mine for TV.
What is it you're trying to do? record from DVD or just watch it?

To elaborate:
a) Open Mythbuntu Control Centre
b) Click on Proprietary Codecs
c) Click on Enable Medibuntu Propietary Codec Support
d) Click Apply
e) Wait for installation to finish
f) Click on Enable libdvdcss2 (and I'd also do w32codecs and ffmpeg)
g) Click apply
