Hello, I am trying to use Gimp in creating a collage...I need to start with an 8 by 10
sized paper for starters...so when I choose new,,,not sure what to put in the width and height, I guess its best to choose pixels...then I am needing to use a line graph to make sure the boxes I am creating are equal and positioned correctly,,,I really dont know where to start here...Basically its a collage of art pictures in boxes and then I am adding a name in the middle...I choose new and the default is 420 by 300, so I need it larger as I cannot see it, but at the same time needing it to be 8 by 10 when I someday finish the work and print it out...can someone help me? I have tried this in windows...it works to a degree, but Gimp had so many more options to use and be creative with...thanks ahead of time BIG TIME!!!

Thank you
Sherri

Ok it is later now, I have figured out how to equate the measurements as far as how to get an 8 by 10, but I still dont see how to snap a grid in to use?? and ideas??

I am guessing you want 8 inches by 10 inches? If so, then switch to inches and type in 8x10.

you could try inkscape, the gimp is more for editing one image while inkscape is good at manipulating shapes and objects

you can just set the page size then drag and drop your pictures then resize + arrange

you can create the grid using the grid and align tools
