Hi all,
I have an orange background for work and would like to hear suggestions for a black & orange theme for gtk.
I have been looking on gnome look, but dialup is making it slow going.
Cheers,
Jay

If you look at my themes on GNOME-look.org (linked to in my sig), there is a theme called "halloGTK" which is black and orange. You need the Aurora engine to use it.

I think it's called Lux2, that was always decent for Orange and Black.

Thanks. (Had to change profile to see your sig tho)
Not exactly what I was looking for, but a great starting point. I also liked the look of your iBlack theme, hopefully I can hack together something that suits based on this and my version of the Human icon set. If I have any luck I'll post a screenshot.

Had no luck finding Lux2.

I found this one to be my favorite. It is simple, not flashy goes with everything and I actually have the default background from ubuntu with the orange swirls....it looks really nice. the black bars are nice especially with compiz shadow. it really is my favorite.

You may also want to try looking for "Slickness" that's on Gnome Look.

That ones nice. Will have a look at modifying it with a bit more orange to suit. Will be a great base.
Thanks to all that have made suggestions, much appreciated!
One more question I have though, is...
Can desktop icons be a different color to the ones used in the theme? What I want to do is use black icons on the desktop (which has an orange wallpaper), but as the panel/windows/controls etc will be black I want orange icons for these. Is this something that can be done or is it all or nothing in regards to an icon theme?

That one looks great! But, I am currently using a mix of themes/icons/window borders like so...

Its a mashup of SlicknesS, iBlack (once I make the window borders a bit thiner), orange door hinge, black-white 2 neon icons, OrangeLinstaDarkIce & the wallpaper is based on the wallpaper from I think, ubuntu glossy GDM theme.
Only problem is Firefox using a white font on the menubar.
Thanks again for all the suggestions! =D>

Nice job! I think you can edit userchrome in your .mozilla/firefox/######### directory to fix the font problem.

if you are running compiz, try using the blur and transparency effect to maximize your slickness use. look at the menu dropdownlist. It has transparency and blur.

The blur plugin can cause CPU usage to spike severely on some hardware. I would recommend staying aware if it does to make sure you don't end up with a computer that freezes on startup. :(

Gnome Theme: Ubuntu Satanic edition's 'Inhuman'
Wallpaper and cube cap available here: http://www.desktoprating.com/wallpapers/huge-3d-fire-wallpaper.htm
Skydome available here:http://invisible--kid.deviantart.com/art/Doom-Skydome-64037474
Of cour'se all this means you have to have Compiz-fuzion configured, but OMG it's worth it. :P
Proof Positive that Ubuntu can be hot...Hot...HOT.
And don't ask me what that graphical glitch is dead-center, probably a window opening when I took the screenshot.
And no, I didn't create any of these, just gathered them on my web searches to find the perfect combination of stuff. :D
