Compiz flat file config?

So, I installed a Emerald Theme (MacLin is you want to know) and my compiz started acting realllly slow and choppy, unbearably even.
I exported my .profile of the effects I had running beforehand.
I changed the "Backend" of my Compiz Settings Manager -> Preferences to Flat-file Configuration Backend. This makes the compiz workable, but Emerald is busted and doesn't apply themes anymore.
I think my GConf Configuration backend is busted since switching to that makes it slow.
Is there any way to reset the compiz settings (reset to defaults was still slow) so they apply emerald themes and aren't slow anymore?
