I manage a small data center (approx 24 hosts and maybe a half dozen appliances) and we've made the decision to migrate to Ubuntu from a mixed environment of Fedora/RedHat/CentOS.
Personally, I've always preferred the debian based systems I've worked with and Ubuntu has proven to be no exception. As we begin our migration, are there any 'gotchas' that other admins would recommend we keep an eye out or?
On a related note, we've been tasked with bringing up a redundant web server in order to provide HA for our web clients. Is there a best practice for this? I had thought about hacking together a script to copy the required configurations and user homes for the web server and then restarting the services, but if there's a more elegant way to do it, I'd be interested in opinions.
Thanks in advance!
