Activate Keys not working

I am having some problems with the activation keys of most of the compiz effects. Can some please advise me how to fix it. I am running 8.04, and can not get effects to work that use the <super> key. Everytime I press my windows key and the corresponding keys, nothing happens. I'm not sure why this is happening, but it is very annoying.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
