So i just got windows vista, and it's ok so far. I REALLY like media center, but i can't get a bunch of my .avi's to play. It always says that it does not have one of the required codecs. GSPOT says i have all the necessary codecs and VLC will play them. I know what codec it is and i've installed it. However winamp, media center, and media play still won't play anything beyond the sound. How to i install codecs to media center????

I recommend the Ace Mega Codec Pack personally.

i've tried several codec packs, including k-lite and it still doesn't seem to work with anything other than vlc. Gspot detects the codecs that i've installed and says i have the correct codecs. As far as i can tell, they are there and windows is just too stupid to figure it out.

Use K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 3.85 or Vista Codec Pack 4.6.3. Personally, K-Lite is very good.
