Ubuntu Linux 2.6.20-16-generic (x86 build)

My problem here is that I am absolutely unable to compile from source any program i want to. Running ./configure executes just fine (or i install the missing libraries and then it works), but when i try to run make i get a whole slew of errors (listed below). I have installed the latest version of gcc, g++, linux-headers, build-essential, libtool...
Errors when attempting to compile ndiswrapper:

Now i noticed that both the pidgin and xine failures have to do with something called /bin/sed, but i looked it up on google and i have absolutely no clue what to do. I hope someone here can tell me how to fix the /bin/sed error, and also whatever is wrong with the ndiswrapper configuration... I am used to compiling from source, not an expert, but i know how to do it, and i have compiled both ndiswrapper and xine with success on previous installations of linux, so i cannot understand why they would decide to fail this time. Any suggestions are welcomed! Please help me!
