View Full Version : Ubuntu, The REAL Windows Killer! (Funny story)
October 10th, 2005, 02:26 PM
Ok. its 4 days till the finaly release of Breezy so i decided to back up all my files that I Had on my windows harddrive in order to get ready for my fresh install of Ubuntu.
I pluged my Windblows drive into the IDE ribbon and booted the machine.
Everything went well and i got all my files backed up.
I was messing around in windows for a little while trying to find something out be for i completely killed the OS from my system when out of nowhere my machine locked up.
I did a hard reset and when it came to there was an error saying "can not find file c:\system32\hal.dll please re-install this file to continue"(somethine like that) I started laughing my **** off and claimed that windblows comitted suicide rather then have it be writen over by Ubuntu.
I know how to fix this problem but i really don't care to since i am going to install the best Friggin OS ever, Hell YEA!
I just thought all the Ubuntu\linux users would get a kick out of this.

That is pretty good. :) It's always fun when Windows decides to grenade itself for no apparent reason.

I think that windows operating systems do start playing up when they know they are giong to be replaced / squished up and not used.
Mine did too, about a few days before installing kubuntu...made me start to chant "this stupid thing is asking for a reinstall!"

I actually got a little misty reading this thread... it is soo sad that so many young windowsessesessess (precioussss windowsessesses) commit suicide :)
*pinks away a little tear*
my Winstallation is still oblivious (I guess), at least the two times I started it to check whether my network was acting up, or if it was Linux or my network card, Windows still booted up without a hitch. (btw it turned out to be the network, and not linux or something) :)

Funny thing, my Widows is working even BETTER now than it was, after I slashed away a quater of a hard drive it used to have only to itself.
Maybe it's trying to sweettalk me.

In my case my motherboard got psycho about some weeks before i install ubuntu, and it would make the pc reboot every time when i was burning a cd.
My guess is that wintendo find out that i would inevatably to change in a few weeks , and due to that my pc was in the store some weeks , dealaying my ubuntu adoption.
But now i´m using ubuntu in duall boot with wintendo ( I´m addicted at Counter strike source , and i can´t afford to lose any FPS running it with cedega on ubuntu).
And now curious Wintendo gives me strange erros in the rare ocassions i use it (is moaning because it sucks , and i changed for someting far better).

well... when i downloaded ubuntu iso and tried to burn it to disc... my evil xp did a 'superb' job of messing up cd after cd... i had to go to my friends place, convince the computer, that ubuntu disc was not for him, and then i got it burned... :) by by win
