Just played it. Very nicely done :)

I am very very curious as to why they had to change the name now that they won't tell.

i guess they don't want that name holder to get wind of it :)

I know you can simply run the game by extracting the Linux archive and running ./teeworlds, but is there a .deb for this in Hardy?

Consider this constructive criticism, please... No, really, I've got a bit of a rant going on below, but I meant it as constructive criticism, so don't take it as a complete flame - I'm sure that your Teeworlds "thing" whatever it is, is great. I'd like to be told that it's great and play it and love it and donate loads of money, but... well...

Your website is umm... well, infuriating, because at no point is it readily apparent wtf this game is. First instinct is to click on "News" hoping for "Teeworlds is a Worms clone" or "Teeworlds is a third person, side-scrolling puzzle game" or whatever it happens to be. But no, News is about recent news, which makes sense, actually, but the recent news gives me no insight into what this thing is, so I try something else. Blog just seems to be a rehash of the News page. I check Forums, hoping that there's a sticky at the top called something like "What is Teeworlds?" Nope, the first forum in the forums section is a rehash of the News section again, and all the other ones are Support, Community, Old Stuff... nothing that looks like it might tell me beginner stuff like "what is this?"

Next instinct is Docs - duh, of course, the first paragraph of the docs will be a "what is this all about paragraph" - why didn't I think of that first? Nope, starts with Support Rules. Game Information starts with CTF scoring. Okay, that tells me that the game can involve a flag - not too edifying, but it's something. Third section seems to involve donations. I might donate at some point, if I knew what it was.

Then I check the menus a little more carefully. OMFG, there's an "About" section. I'm an idiot. I should have *obviously* checked that section first. Nope. About just has the developers names. That's just... well, completely useless. I mean, it's appropriate that the developers get credit for what I'm sure is fine work, but if I knew what that work was, I'm sure I'd be more appreciative of what they've done.

Well... Screenshots... that should show a bunch of pictures of what the game is about... nope. Just one picture. I assume it's meant to show how great 0.4 is compared to previous versions. But I've never seen any previous versions, so I don't know how great 0.4 is. Downloads might describe what you're downloading... no... no, didn't think so.

Sorry, really, I am... sorry for the rant. But, it's just that the entire site seems designed for people who already know what Teeworlds is, and are eagerly awaiting it's release. There seems to be a willful eschewing of any sort of meaningful description of what the hell it actually is. I'm not expecting a marketing document, but just *any* sort of description, please.... anything from "it's a clone of *blank*" to "it's a procedurally generated paradigm of 2d action-adventure archetypes with a particular emphasis on item-retrieval oriented strategy with.... etc., etc., etc." Please? Something?

It's true, I could download it and try it out. But why should I (or almost anyone else) download a game simply because it so infuriatingly avoids telling you what the heck it is? I'd rather be intrigued by a description and *then* download it and see if it's fun...

We have nothing to do with the TeeWorlds website, but their contact e-mail (found in their footer) is contact@teeworlds.com. Try copying and pasting that critique to that e-mail address and let us know their response!

Sorry, figued that the person posting the original thread had something to do with the game itself. As it's a forum admin, that assumption appears less likely than I originally thought... oh well, my rant still stands.... :)
