View Full Version : no video on ISO playback?

Hi guys

First: thankyou to the mythbuntu/mythtv developers - mythbuntu rocks :D, and so far I've managed to get pretty much everything working perfectly!

Now my question: I've been ripping all of my dvd collection to ISO** format to work as a sort of virtual dvd jukebox, but I've run into a problem with futurama season 1. It rips ok, but on playback:

- usual dire warnings play no problem.
- 20th century intro looks quite bad (like digital tv when the reception is dodgy). Not that it matters, but I thought it was worth noting.
- menus work ok.
- BUT: when I select "play episode" nothing happens. Well, almost. The hdd whirs like it's playing, and if I press pause, some scene will come up, but... when I press play again, nothing. It's like it's playing in the background somewhere, but not getting to the display. There is an inelegant workaround (going to the chapter selection, choosing chapter 1 and then playing from there), but that's really annoying.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Any suggestions for fixes?

fwiw, my setup is:
- Asus P5KPL motherboard
- Intel dual core E2200 processor
- 1gb ram
- 2x320GB hdd
- dvd burner
- Asus 7200GS HTD PE video card
- DTV2000H (even mananged to get the remote working... eventually. No fm reception yet unfortunately)

**except lost season 2, which had some sort of protection scheme that meant I had to rip the episode individually.

EDIT: fixed machine specs

I have the same problem with certain movies as well. If you save your position, exit, then re-enter the movie does it work okay? This seems to work for me. You may have to have DVD bookmarking enabled to do this.

I only just started ripping my movies to my mythbox, but I've come accross this problem with these movies:
Atonement
Holes
Hot Fuzz
Robin Hood: Men in Tights

Note: I only have 13 movies ripped

Hope this helps until this bug is fixed.

EDIT: Whoops.. I missed the last sentence of your point, I haven't figured out any way to get these things to just work they way they're supposed to, hopefully someone more linux savvy than me can help.
