Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this - I'm not asking for advice - but wanted to bring something to CE forum users attention. I've just seen a thread about Ubuntu Satanic Version (http://ubuntusatanic.org/) which would appear on the surface deeply unpleasant. The likelihood is that users see this as a bit of harmless fun, but I for one believe in the literality of hell, and the utter seriousness of satanism. Just thought I'd bring this to your attention: salt and light etc. Regards

Though I cannot say I support the Ubuntu Satanic Edition, I feel compelled to remind you that your post is more suited for the Backyard as it will attract flames.

A free software support board isn't really the place to debate the right or wrong of the Satanic edition vs the merits of the Christian Edition.

With that said I wish you the best and hope that your positive experiences with the Ubuntu Community far outweigh the negative ones.

Regards!

Hi, and thanks. I appreciate your input, and admit in hindsight this was perhaps an over zealous thread. That said, however, it was following on from a request I made about a post of an Ubuntu satanic edition user to remove some rather unpleasant language my son had seen. Prior to this I was unaware that Ubuntu SE existed. Nevertheless, the point you made I agree with: the forum is for helping others with Ubuntu related problems and not to debate the rights or wrongs of various editions. I hope I've not offended anyone, and thank you for highlighting this. As you can see, I'm a relative newb, and will put this down to inexpereince. My experience of Ubuntu so far has been nothing but positve and pleasant and hope that I can pass that onto others who might need assistance. Once again, thanks for your post. Regards.

It's supposed to be a satirical take of all the religious "editions" of Ubuntu.

In other words, don't take it seriously.

It's never gonna happen. There's no electricity on pirate ships so it's difficult for them to get an Internet connection and therefore collaborate between Pastafarians.

I believe I speak for many people when I say: tough ****. I find the Ubuntu CE offensive because I hate how the religious feel the need to smash their beliefs into everything and then throw it in everyone's faces. I don't use Satanic Edition nor do I find it particularly clever, but I'll give 'em props for making people like you flip out.

Why am I amused? Because you're complaining about something that literally does you zero harm. You are mad at someone for doing something that goes against your beliefs and asking for sympathy for it. If there was a Jewish Edition would you be mad because you think Christ was the Messiah and dislike someone making a version that says otherwise?

Get over yourself.

Each to their own religion... The thing is, you dont have to use it if you dont like it... I actually think it's kinda funny...
