Hi All,

I have used Mythphone in the past, mostly with Knoppmyth, with limited success.

Recently I installed Skype Linux version 2 on my Ubuntu Gutsy desktop machine and it works quite easily and enables me to videochat with a few friends (my Windows bretheren don't use Ekiga, unfortunately).

I was entertaining the possibility of running Skype on Mythbuntu instead of Mythphone so that I can videochat with me friends from the living room where the TV is located.

Is there any reason not to use Skype on Mythbuntu?

cause theres not a plugin for it? You could use skype, but you would either need to write a plugin or find some other way to launch and control it.

Thanks for the reply...

I have a keyboard with a mouse built-in (i.e., integrated). I can use this to control the Skype application.

I I just may try it. I will report my experience if anyone is interested.

I have a python script that can use lirc to control any application... by sending fake key presses

That might be of some help here

Other then that all you would need is a custom menu item to lunch skype
