I really want to run Virtual PC to screw up system files without hurting my computer, but Microsoft ridiculously makes it only available for Windows XP Pro and Vista! Why do they do this?!?! And is it possible for me to get Virtual PC 2007 for XP Home anyway?

you can get vmware server v1.0 from vmware.com which is much better than Virtual PC (micosoft bought connetix to obtain it) vmware server is free to download, you need to register to obtain the key, but its free.
if i recall they do a windows version too, i would check there before pulling windows apart and giving it another excuse to break itself.

But isn't it made for server use? I was gonna download it a few months ago but the word server threw me off.

You can use VMWare Server, VMWare Player or VirtualBox.
I use VirtualBox, it is in the repositories
sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose

For Windows XP Home, you could try QEMU. I know there's a Windows version because there's all those tutorials on creating a Linux USB key that can run inside Windows, using QEMU.
You'll need to get the command reference, unless there's a GUI for it for Windows. It'll probably use fewer resources then VMWare server. At least I found it did on Linux. It might be different on Windows I don't know.

I used VirtualPC when I was using XP Home... Unless they changed something, you can just download it from the Microsoft website.
