I recently got this motherboard and video card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186067) (A GeForce 6200), and have been having trouble getting Compiz to work on it, both in Gutsy and in Hardy. I am using the NVidia driver provided by the restricted drivers manager, and normal 3D (glxgears and games such as neverball) works fine. However, Compiz is running very slow; if this were a video game I would say it was running around 0.5 frames per second. Also, whenever I start up Compiz, all of the areas that it is drawing to (windows and shadows) are covered in black, which goes away once something under them redraws, but is rather annoying.

Another piece of data: When I am running in a resolution below 1024 x 768, it runs fine, but when I am running above that at my monitor's native resolution of 1680 x 1050 I encounter the problems mentioned above.

I think I got same problem with nVidia Geforce Go 6200 card here -
http://rapidshare.com/files/103336931/kde3_compiz_slow.mpg.html
is it that slow or a bit faster?
I can start compiz at normal speed only if I close all open windows at first in KDE.
Other oddities while being slowed down: typing in file manager (konqueror won't show up typed text).
+ can you open 20 nautilus windows @1024x768 resolution and then run compiz at normal speed?

I'm running the Geforce 6200 as well ,compiz is flyin!
Here's my xorg.conf for comparison if it helps ,you did run nvidia-xconfig - right?
